Q: When will armageddon be over and iconoclast
2 be in place?
A: No real answer for that. We're abusing Jestyr
as it is, and we just need a bit more time for code. It shouldn't be too
long though - this is certainly not what we're shooting for Iconoclast
to be like. Think of ARMAGEDDON as a reminder of why we need to go through
this painful growing process in the first place.
Q: Will the MUD areas still be the same?
A: Pretty much. We might change the location
of one or two rooms to keep those of you with hyperspeed zMUD style map
triggers (you know who you are) on your toes. The layout of the MUD and
world, though, will remain pretty steady. So you shouldn't have to re-learn
your way around, unless you've forgotten already. Some of the more personal
areas that are attached to old players, old organizations, or things that
no longer exist will be removed.
Q: Will guns work?
A: Maybe, but you still can't have a working
one yet.
Q: Will the same genotypes be available?
A: Yep. With one major change.
Q: Will there be more skills?
A: Yep. Lots more. But not in the way you think.
Q: I've heard rumors that we're gonna have to
make *new* characters and ditch our old ones when I2 comes online. Is this
true?
A: You're probably going to hate me for this,
but for many, many reasons, we're treating every player made after Iconoclast
2 is put in place as a new character that has no background, no Iconoclast
experiences, no history on icon. A new player.
Most MUDs wipe every six months -- we haven't
done so for 18 months.
I've spent over a year and a half on my character.
They're well liked, popular, high up on the chain of life, rich and successful.
This really upsets me, and doubtlessly upsets other players too. Are you
sure this is a good idea?
This is a necessary action - we need to start
fresh and get things going right with the new system. Old plots, old chars,
and old business simply won't fit in. It's not the end of the world. I
truly hope to see you all back as new, interesting incarnations to begin
again and do things even better this time. If you *cannot* let go of your
old character, we suggest you take some time off from icon to cope with
things. Have a beer, relax. Watch a movie. We understand that it may be
easy to get emotionally attached to an imaginary persona and their virtual
lives, but it's definitely not emotionally healthy to obsess about it.
It's only a game, in the end.
Q: Will we start out with IC clothes? Can we get
reimbursed on things we'd need to be IC? How do we make cash?
A: There will be ways in place to effectively
help RP along its way as it gets a fresh start. This includes clothes and
cash.
